I like Miranda Lee so based on the synopsis, I was expecting so much from this book but it just did not deliver...and maybe that was the problem. I thought the idea was great so the book would be as well. Not so.The hero blames a man for his father's loss of livelihood and subsequent suicide. He vows revenge. Years later, he builds himself up to billionaire status and goes after the man's only child (or so he believes), a daughter he plans on using and seducing to get back at her father. Okay, so I'm expecting a lot of conflict and a big vengeance plot, and since this is a romance, I'm expecting him to be torn between his love for her and years of planning and hate.
But instead of being a gold-digger he thought she should be (and seriously, I am so getting tired of all these books having a gold-digger underelying issue), she turns out to be a 2nd Mother Teresa, volunteering in an orphanage in a 3rd world country. And poof, overnight, he goes from despising her to being in love with her, and the wedding which was supposed to be his ultimate revenge is one of love.
There didn't seem to be any build up of feelings for her. It was like a magic trick, from I hate her, then ABRACADABRA, I love her.
Okay, even all of this I would forgive, but the climactic moment, when her mother comes out of hiding to stop the wedding ceremony, and I think, Yes! Finally, some drama, and what does the bride do when she's told her relationship and marriage were all just orchestrated as a revenge plot? She pretty much just tells her mother to mind her own business...the end.
Seriously, which woman would ever just accept that situation...and on her wedding day?
Add together that the only real relationships this heroine has had with men has been a stepfather who turned out to be a 2nd Bernie Madoff, and a fiance she caught having sex with someone else. She's going to just accept (in the blink of an eye) that yes, her new husband used her but he changed his mind and she doesn't feel the need to at least question him about it?
Oh please.

The Billionaire Bride of Vengeance Harlequin comics eBook Miranda Lee Hiroko Fukuhara Reviews
Driven by his father's death, Russell works himself to the bone to become the real estate tycoon he is today. Motivated to destroy the man he holds responsible for his death Russell feels strangely empty when the moment finally comes. Meeting his enemies daughter and being completely and utterly blown away by her Russell thinks maybe that will cure his empty feeling and pursues Nicole with a vengeance.
Nicole is far far far removed from the person the press describes her as, from the reputation she holds and from the two somewhat heartless people who have raised her. All she knows about Russell is that he's the man who bought her stepfathers house and that the more she gets to know Russell the more she's falling head over heels in love.
Miranda Lee is a must buy for me and when I saw her book in the back of the second hand store I had to have it. I wasn't disappointed, this is a classically written revenge seeking trying to be heartless hero story who's actually a bloody good guy when he's not being blinded by his drive for revenge. Nicole is lovable and I really like her. She's a ray of sunshine next to Russell's cloud of thunder. Russell does some pretty heartless things sometimes but overall I still really liked him and hoped for his happy ever after.
Written in 2010, a very enjoyable read. Love the cover and love the emotion Miranda Lee is an absolute legend at delivering. I will be looking up Book Two and Three in this series.
Ms. Miranda Lee absolutely took my breath away in The Billionaire's Bride of Vengeance. In the past few days I've read several books and although I liked some of them I had lost my desire to read anymore books. That was until I read this one, the story between Russell and Nicole is a beautiful started out with a quest for revenge and ending with him trying to prove that he really is in love with her.
I highly reccomend this book really I do.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'
Great book!
This book was so unreal. There were so many inconsistencies, and the heroine's actions never made sense, or seemed believable. Her "nice and non-shallow, non-materialistic girl" character seemed so forced. And it took her saying the she wasn't his enemy's blood daughter to make him finally relinquish his belief that she was just as bad as him? What? Also, the love scenes were hardly written. The actual event is skipped over every time, but any little touching and licking and foreplay is described perfectly. This is the last Miranda Lee book I will get. I'm done with her contrived writing.
